  88.      I'm waiting for my tech license to arrive and I'm playing with my new
  89. HTX-202. The manual says to clear all memory turn OFF the transceiver and
  90. press F + CLR then turn on the transciever. I did this and nothing
  91. cleared! Everything I put in was STILL there. 
  92. Also, When attempting to store a calling frequency I press CA and 146.000
  93. keeps coming up on the display. I can't seem to store the frequency I want
  94. in the memory. The freq I want to store doesn't require a subaudible tone.

  96.      I also noticed that when I activate the power save mode nothing seems
  97. to happen. Any help or advice much appreciated!

  99.     Oh, one more question. What does listen on the input mean? I hear this
  100. once in awhile. "I'll listen on the input". Like someone is checking there
  101. signal or something. I know repeaters use an input and output frequency so
  102. I imagine that has something to do with it.

  114. I am looking to set up a small local broadcasting system on AM or FM 
  115. frequencies for a number of factories in the area.  What kind of 
  116. equipment am I looking for?  I am completely new in the area of 
  117. broadcasting, so I don't know what I am talking about.  What are the 
  118. rules/regulations for this?  What kind of equipment do I need?  I got the 
  119. idea from the local drive-in movie theater.  A system like this would be 
  120. nice, only more powerful.  I need a 5-mile transmission radius.  ANY HELP 
  121. or ADVISE would be GREATLY appreciated!  E-mail me any comments!  Thanks

  189. Same on my new 530.  The new ones have a green wire near the bottom of the
  190. radio.  The wire loops from one pad right around to the other.  I'd guess
  191. that the wire in my unit was about 2" long, making the mod very easy.  I
  192. was told Yeasu did this because may people were damaging the radios trying
  193. to remove the solder from the pads.  The radio is really packed inside and
  194. those pads are quite small.

  265. I purchased a MFJ 962C antenna tuner for its high power rating and
  266. low cost. The tuner looks ok although it does not have a quality feel.
  267. Its capacitors have large spacings, the balun is enormous in size and 
  268. the open wire connectors probably can withstand 10KV!  
  269.  
  270. Unfortunately switches are small, and one that switches the coil 
  271. sparks badly on 80m at 200W. The sparking is between the hottest wire 
  272. (useful for 10m) and one of the bolts. I eliminated it by unsoldering 
  273. that wire (10m is gone now).  Also, the SWR meter works accurately up
  274. to 14 MHz but definitely not on 21!  Perhaps it can be retuned.

  276. You get what you pay for, and quality tuners of that kind retail for 
  277. at least two times more. I am wondering whether this tuner (and 
  278. perhaps other MFJ products) should be regarded as assembled pieces of 
  279. parts, where extra work is needed to make them work fine.

  281. Just to avoid busting MFJ, their keyer/bencher combination that I 
  282. purchased at the same time works very well.

  375. Spurs can be in band as well as out of band, so a bandpass filter
  376. isn't a cure. If you can't find someone with a spectrum analyzer
  377. to check it, there are ways to do it with cruder equipment. They
  378. can be tedious though. Generally, you can tune using a frequency
  379. selective detector, and a wideband detector. If the readings don't
  380. match, you've got spurs. To find them, you can use a wide range
  381. tunable receiver to hunt for them. The FCC wants spurs to be 60 db
  382. down from the main carrier, so sensitive detectors are a must.
